Rupert has been appointed Chairman of the Songwriter Executive Committee at BASCA - The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. BASCA has a Songwriter Committee that consists of working songwriters representing your interests. The committee, voted for by BASCA members, acts as a point of contact for songwriters and a place to share concerns and feel part of a community. The Chair of the Songwriting Committee is Helienne Lindvall. The Songwriter Committee work hard to help BASCA support songwriters in the following ways: - Organising songwriter critiques and masterclasses- Offering professional seminars and tutorials covering digital marketing, distribution and publishing- Providing regular notice of songwriting opportunities, whether training, competitions (such as Eurovision) or networking- Representing songwriters at the highest level with the BBC, Musicians Union, - - PRS for Music, UK Music and the UK Government- Representing songwriters in Europe, at EU Commission level and with other writer organisations e.g. ECSA- Campaigning for composer rights and credits within streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music- Providing template contracts – recording, publishing, performance and management- Partnering with leading colleges and universities such as the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and The Academy of Contemporary Music
